why should i pay an additional amount for a billing error that was discovered after the bill was paid off?
Question by lateisha2380: why should i pay an additional amount for a billing error that was discovered after the bill was paid off?
i had my roofing replaced last year thanks to homeowners insurance. when i received the invoice from the company, i paid the amount that was invoiced, but not all at once. i paid half after the completion of the job and the other half was being sent by the insurance co. anyway, to make a long story short some other things happened in between getting that other half payment, but i’ve paid them in full according to the amount they originally invoiced. now, they are telling me that i owe an additional $ 100 for a “material tax” that wasn’t included in the first and second invoice i received from them. i paid that bill off and i don’t feel i should pay an additional amount for an error they made…

It’s impossible to answer your question because you left out too much information. It sounds like they didn’t get their money when it was promised to them, so you may be liable for the tax. Check your contract.
